Conquering Mountains

Photographers and winter sports specialists Dez Mighty and Gary Lawson are curators of a unique photographic exhibition this autumn which will showcase UK people of Afro Caribbean origin participating in the past-time of skiing and snowboarding throughout Europe, Asia and America.

The exhibition's purpose is to raise funds for Snow-Camp, a UK charity which focuses on providing unique experiences for disadvantaged inner city children by giving them the chance to get outdoors, visit unfamiliar environments and experience the challenge of winter sports. Life-skills sessions run throughout Snow-Camp courses enabling the young people to reflect on the skills they are using and developing in order to progress with snow sports – perseverance, commitment, listening, teamwork, patience, overcoming fear etc. The Life-skills sessions show young people how these skills are useful back in their day to day lives.
